LONDON (AP) _ Workers at the Peugeot factory in Britain have
voted against striking to protest layoffs at the plant, their union
said Monday.
The Transport and General Workers Union said members at the plant
in Ryton, near Coventry, voted 516 to 440 against industrial action.
The French automaker announced in April that it would cut 2,300
jobs in Britain as it phases out production of the 206 subcompact
car at Ryton. Peugeot said it had decided not to upgrade the plant
to produce newer models after production ends next year.
