STUTTGART, Germany (AP) _ Criminal charges have been filed
against a former DaimlerChrysler AG employee suspected of claiming
money from the company for construction work that wasn't performed,
a prosecutor said Tuesday.
The man, whose name was not released, was charged with breach of
trust for allegedly embezzling more than three million euros (US$4
million) between 1997 and 2004, said Bettina Vetter, a prosecutor in
Stuttgart, the southern German city where the company is
headquartered.
The suspect, who headed a building department, is accused of
having an architect forge invoices for work that was never carried
out. Two architects have been charged as accessories in the case,
Vetter said.
A date for the trial was not immediately set.
