The new 2006 Cadillac XLR serves up a 4.6-liter V8 engine with 320 horsepower.  It achieves 17 miles per gallone in the city or 25 miles per gallon on the highway.  The standard model features a 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and is designed as a dual passenger, 2-door convertible sports car.  

There are a number of safety features included in the new 2006 Cadillac XLR, including ABS brakes and driver/passenger side airbags.  Additional interior amenities include air conditioning, alarm, CD player and changer, DVD player, leather seats, navigation system and onStar subscription service.  OnStar is widely promoted as a safety mechanism for passengers.  Stolen vehicle location assistance and remote door unlock are among the many conveniences provided by this program.  Rounding out the 2006 Cadillac XLR highlights are power windows and locks, theft tracking and traction control.
