AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - Audi is the first
manufacturer ever to earn three "Double Best Pick" ratings from the
Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for their front and side
crash test results on the A3, A4, and A6. Audi raised the bar again
with the addition of the A3 to the list of "Double Best Pick." The Audi
A3 earned the rating after its performance in the recently conducted
IIHS side impact crash test and the frontal offset crash test.
This
past July, Audi became the first manufacturer ever to have two vehicles
with a "Double Best Pick" rating after crash tests were conducted on
the Audi A6. With the addition of the A3 premium compact to this
prestigious list, Audi's meticulous commitment to safety becomes even
more recognized.
"With three vehicles now performing as "Double
Best Pick" by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, Audi has
clearly established itself as an authority in safety technology." said
Johan de Nysschen, Executive Vice President, Audi of America, Inc. "We
already knew that the Audi A3 was a class-leader in performance and
driving dynamics, and now it has solidly claimed its spot as the
class-leader in safety as well."
The new Audi A3 represented in
these tests went on sale in the U.S. in May. The 200 hp A3 2.0 T is
available with a standard 6-speed manual transmission, or an optional
automatic 6-speed Direct-Shift Gearbox. The A3 3.2 quattro? S-line will
be available mid-November and features a 250 hp narrow-angle 3.2L V6
engine, standard 6-speed Direct-Shift Gearbox transmission, and Audi's
legendary quattro all-wheel drive.
A network of over 260 Audi
dealers currently offers a line of premium vehicles that include the
category defying Audi A3, the sporty A4 sedan, Avant and Cabriolet
models; the high performance S4 sedan, Avant and Cabriolet models; the
design-leading A6 sedan and elegant A6 Avant; the premium flagship
all-aluminum Audi A8, A8 L and A8 L W12; and the award-winning TT Coupe
and Roadster.
