FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) _ Automaker Audi AG said Friday that it
is recalling 70,000 of its A3 models because of problems with the
clutch, a spokesman said.
Jochen Grueten said the recall is aimed at A3 2.0 TDI models with
a manual transmission and diesel engine. The affected cars were
built from the middle of 2003 to the end of 2004.
Of the 70,000 cars, some 20,000 are in Germany and the rest are
in other countries worldwide, he said. He didn't have a breakdown of
the countries where the car was being recalled.
No injuries have been reported because of the clutch problem,
which Audi didn't elaborate on.
Audi is part of Volkswagen AG, Europe's biggest automaker.
