FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) _ Luxury car maker Audi A-G says its sales and profit soared during the first half of the year.

The unit of Volkswagen A-G says the results put it on track to a 12th consecutive year of record results.

The company says it earned nearly 927 (m) million dollars U-S in the first six months of 2007.

That's a nearly 67 per cent gain over what it earned in the same period last year.

Sales rose by more than 12 per cent to a record 23.75 (b) billion dollars on solid gains in China, the U-S and Russia.

Audi C-E-O Rupert Stadler says the company is on track to meet, and in some cases, exceed its sales goals for the year.
