GMAC Financial Services (GMAC) today announced the four grand prize
winners of its "2007 GMAC SmartEdge Get the Edge Instant Win &
Sweepstakes." The sweepstakes winners were chosen in a random drawing
from more than one million entries submitted at the GMAC SmartEdge Web
site, which promotes financial literacy to help consumers make informed
financial decisions.
The winners are Cheryl Dye of Greenfield, Ind., who won a 2008
Chevrolet Cobalt; Amy Freund of St. Louis Park, Minn., who won a 2008
Chevrolet HHR; Greta Kirby of Carthage, Tenn., who won a 2008 Pontiac
G6; and, Catherine Gilbert of East Hartford, Conn., who won $10,000
cash.
"I played the trivia questions on the Web site about buying and
leasing a car, so I could enter the sweepstakes, and I had a gut
feeling I was going to win a car," said Kirby. "I am thrilled! This is
the dream of a lifetime!"
The sweepstakes was sponsored by GMAC SmartEdge, GMAC's
comprehensive financial education program that aims to improve people's
understanding of budgeting, credit, banking, vehicle and home
financing, and insurance. GMAC SmartEdge promotes financial literacy
through its Web site and local seminars occurring across the country.
"On behalf of GMAC, I would like to extend congratulations to the
lucky winners," said Don Ferguson, director of GMAC SmartEdge for GMAC.
"We hope that in addition to winning, these winners will be able to
apply what they've learned about good personal finance habits to their
daily lives."
GMAC recently expanded the GMAC SmartEdge curriculum to include
information on banking services, homeowners and automobile insurance
options, and financing a home. In 2008, GMAC hosted more than 2,300
SmartEdge events and seminars in the United States.
